Pandemic: Impact on The Translation Industry

The world is jolted with the epidemic – people are confined to home, businesses are shut, schools and colleges are off. It is unprecedented, so far in my life. The most haunting aspect is, people are not being paid salaries on time, laid off from their companies, and sent for unpaid leaves. How will people run their kitchen?

It was something unforeseen. People were not prepared for it though the government and businesses are trying to bring an approach to keep the business running. But what about the translation services agency?

The Domino results
The Agency of translation services may likely get affected directly due to the incumbent economic and health crisis. Most of the linguistic experts working in agencies with corporate clients have nothing to do. As an outcome, the translation services agency will be a part of significant domino results, which businesses postpone approaching foreign countries and avoid international campaigns until the situation is controlled and markets return to normal. Efficiently, most sectors are already or will be in the coming weeks affected.

However, there are sectors, although the crisis will be more in demand for translation services agency. As it’s now, unluckily, a global epidemic, the translations of medical and pharmaceutical materials, are even more crucial than ever before. The same goes for the legal sector, particularly in the long run.

Additionally, there is a noticeable trend within a few corporate clients who decide to go further with their internationalize plans and campaigns now, despite the bleeding economy. These businesses are operational, and translation of their content will allow them to be ahead of their competitors when the situation goes normal—with the government around the world, flowing liquidity in the market to help businesses. This approach will turn out to be better in the longer run.

Translators are ready!
Though the translation industry is affected overall, however, it’s ready to continue working. Luckily, the nature of work allows the linguist to work freelance from home. Indeed, the majority of the translator enables their home to offices, and several professions need to adjust while working remotely. It never happens to be a problem of a professional translator.

Interpreter – what story?
As mentioned earlier, professional translation services agency work with the personnel from home and provide services. The work is streamlined without any interruption and not affected.
With many countries introducing strict policies to avoid physical contact, the interpreter’s job has become vulnerable. Since businesses that required interpreters don’t have any meetings to take their services. As a result, the work is limited.
